Education/Training

The New York native took music theory in high school and earned his undergrad degree in music composition. At the graduate level, he studied advanced orchestration and jazz arranging with Cliff Colnot, Chicago Symphony Orchestra MusicNOW conductor, at the University of Chicago and DePaul. In between grad school and college, he took private composition studies with Hans Wurman, who introduced Romayne to film scoring by sharing credit on Non Plus Ultra by Chilean director Adriana Zuanic and encouraged the composer to pursue scoring for film. While studying with Colnot, he scored on two A&E series for Bill Kurtis Productions. He moved to Los Angeles to attend the USC Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television Program, graduated with the BMI Film Music Scholarship (2000) and went to work with fellow USC alumnus, Christophe Beck.

At Beck's studio, Romayne worked on a number of films including Dreamwork's The Tuxedo and was assigned Assoc. Music Director on the "Buffy" musical, "Once More, With Feeling," which was nominated for an Emmy in Music Direction. He left Beck's studio in the fall of 2002 to score "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and has been working steadily as a composer.
